Hadassah, Women's Health
Hadassah's Breast Health Awareness
includes the Check it Out program
for teens and adults. The goal of
the Hadassah Check It Out high
school program is to teach 11th and
12th grade girls breast
self-examination. This program
encourages young people to get into
the habit of monthly
self-examinations so that they can
take responsibility for keeping
themselves well.
Heavenly Hats
Started in 2001 by then 10 year old
Anthony Leanna, the Heavenly Hats
program donates brand- new hats to
cancer patients who lose their hair
due to cancer treatments. Since he
started this program, Anthony has
received donations of more than
60,000 brand new hats and has been
able to ship them to more than 160
hospitals and clinics around the
United States.
ProjectAWARE
ProjectAWARE was created by women,
for women. The Association of Women
for the Advancement of Research &
Education was an idea born out of
frustration, frustration regarding
lack of beneficial and comprehensive
health care information available to
women today. So two women, one from
Kansas and one from New York, with
the same idea came together in an
effort to get that information to as
many women as possible.

role models who "witness" or testify
about their own experiences in
churches and other community
